To summarize, a post-accident analysis
indicates that wrong technical advice, the
age of the building, earthquakes and an
excess of weight were the causes for the
collapse of the building.
The Church and It’s Four
Walls:
This was a very difficult time for the church.
We had a lot of questions without answers.
From the beginning we had seen God’s
provision of the building and the funds
to repair the roof, but now we saw our building
nearly useless. As always, there was no
choice but to seek God’s guidance.
What would be the response of the congregation
the next Sunday? Over the next two Sundays,
we held services in a large meeting room
of a nearby hotel. After that, Life Path
Church moved to a very unique place—a
public park three blocks from the auditorium.

So from September 2000 to February 2003,
Life Path Church held meetings there each
Sunday. The whole congregation had to do
very important adaptations in all areas
in order to make this happen. Each Sunday
about 30 people began at 7 a.m. to move
chairs, benches, tables, the sound system
and musical instruments and set them up
in the park--all the things necessary to
have Bible classes with adults and children.
We even pitched a tent that functioned as
a nursery for babies! All this has been
a time of considerable growth for our church,
both numerically and spiritually. Life Path
Church has matured because of this and we
often see this as the same thing Jesus did
with His disciples in the book of Acts.
He allowed difficult times which moved them
out from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth.
We have seen God’s mercy working in
the salvation and transformation of people
that wouldn’t have had the chance
to know Christ if we hadn’t been there
in the park. Our vision is as fresh as ever
and it keeps challenging us daily. We are
convinced that God has put us here in this
part of the city to be a light in the middle
of all this spiritual darkness, and we know
that God will provide the necessary means
to restore the temple.
